June 2017 Fishing Report–Fisher’s Resort, Mille Lacs Lake

Walleye Report– Believe it or not the bite has picked up over this past week. The bite was good before, and now it is crazy good. You can fish virtually any structure, and catch walleye out here. The flats were a little slower earlier, but now they have seemed to really turn on this past week. Rigging with a leech or crawler have been good out there, or slip bobber fishing. Slip bobber fishing, casting plastics, or trolling with crankbaits off the rocks have been productive as well. We did have the midges move out, but the may flies did hatch some this week. The hatch doesn’t seem as intense as the midge hatch was. It is defiantly nice to see them though, these fish could use a little food. Water temp= 65 degrees.

Smallmouth Report- This past week we have also seen an increase in the smallmouth activity. Tubes and swimbaits are the way to go.  Cast in rock areas from 6-10ft. Places like Agate reef and around Big Point have been holding fish, you can also catch them right out front here in our corner.

Northern Pike Report- The weed lines have just started to pop-up and are starting to attract the pike. A few people have tested the waters trolling this past week and did manage to boat a few of them. We will be sure to keep you posted when they really turn on, which is typically in July.

Things to keep in mind….

-You may fish UNTIL 10pm this time of year and then make your way in.

-The walleye closure will be happening July 7th-27th to reduce hooking mortality during the hottest time of the year. During that time we will also be artificial only. You may target any other species at this time. It is a great time for Bass, Muskie and Pike. Walleye will resume July 28th- Labor Day.

We hope you are all having a fantastic summer and we look forward to seeing you on the big pond!
